{"id":1156,"date":"2012-01-14T17:50:02","date_gmt":"2012-01-14T09:50:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/amber.schlomer.net\/?p=1156"},"modified":"2012-01-14T17:50:02","modified_gmt":"2012-01-14T09:50:02","slug":"the-time-between-thanksgiving-and-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amber.schlomer.net\/?p=1156","title":{"rendered":"The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just realized that my last post was just after Thanksgiving.\u00a0 I am getting bad at this again&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Here are some highlights of my &#8220;Christmas Season&#8221; this year in Beijing:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 We had our yearly Christmas party with hundreds of Chinese friends.\u00a0 It was enjoyable once again.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 The homeschool had it&#8217;s first ever Christmas party. \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Each teacher was supposed to think of something to &#8220;perform&#8221; for our subject area.\u00a0 As the math teacher at the homeschool my math class performed &#8220;The 12 days of Christmas&#8221; and had the audience count the total number of gifts received.\u00a0 (First person to respond &#8211; in the form of a comment &#8211; with the correct answer will receive 10 points!)<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0 I spent a LOT of time working on my white elephant gift for our annual FOC gift exchange.\u00a0 We do both a white elephant gift exchange and a secret santa gift exchange.\u00a0\u00a0My white elephant gift was something that I had been planning since the summer time.\u00a0 Last year&#8217;s white elephant was the FOC Beijing version of &#8220;Guess Who&#8221;.\u00a0 This year I wanted to do better so I made the FOC Beijing version of Clue.\u00a0 It was a hit with the group.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll put photos at the bottom.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve spent much of my time teaching (both school and B studies)\u00a0 I&#8217;m still enjoying my classes this year, especially our homeschool boys.\u00a0 As crazy as they are, they grow on you&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 I bought a plane ticket to Thailand!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0 I practiced a little bit more with photography.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy the sample photos I&#8217;m including.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0 Did I mention that I&#8217;m going to Thailand?<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1159\" style=\"width: 829px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/amber.schlomer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_1603.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1159\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1159 \" title=\"IMG_1603\" src=\"http:\/\/amber.schlomer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_1603-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"819\" height=\"546\" srcset=\"https:\/\/amber.schlomer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_1603-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/amber.schlomer.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/IMG_1603-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 819px) 100vw, 819px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1159\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">These are some of the miniatures I created for the Beijing version of Clue. The weapons were chopsticks, a wok, a cleaver, a bike chain, Micah&#39;s guitar string, and Teri&#39;s cat.
